Burnt down during the Hundred Years War, the old castle was rebuilt by Mondot de la Marthonie, Premier President of the Paris Parlement and councilor to François I. The château consists of two main buildings at right angles, a medieval wing with two 14th century towers and a 17th century wing built onto a gallery. During the 17th century one of the towers was embellished with a monumental staircase. The rooms below house an annex of the Historical museum of paper.
